Finals

Well, I finally got my nativity set today. I made a decision. (It actually was the one on the left, Mati, lol.) Mike and I wanted to go out for falafel today, and the girls we went with wanted to go to the olive wood shops, so while we were there I figured I'd get on it. The one I chose, the figures are a little bit smaller, but they're really beautifully detailed and they actually look like real people, and there's a lot of them. Oh, and the house has a music box in it. Like, you wind up the star on the top and it plays Silent Night. :) So there you go.

Yesterday we went on another field trip! Lol. We went to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park, which is the excavations next to the Western Wall. They can't excavate any closer to the temple mount, but they have like, the steps that used to lead up to it, and the threshhold stone is the only one that we can really be sure Jesus actually walked on, because everyone would have had to cross over it to get into the temple. There was also some old Byzantine houses that were underground. They were pretty sweet. I don't think they were originally underground, they've just been excavated that way... Actually, this entire thing has all been excavated in the last 10 years. Sister Huff said the first time she saw it (they were here before when the Center was open, too) she did kind of a double-take, coz it used to just be a grassy hill.

Then we went to the Burnt House. It's the remains of a cellar that they found from the destruction of the second temple. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but Jerusalem limestone is actually flammable. Gives kind of a different light to Lehi's vision of Jerusalem burning. But ya, we got to watch this amazing movie. It was seriously awesome. And by awesome, I mean hilarious because it was so bad. It was super cheesy, and it was all done with English voice overs. My favorite part was these three boys, about 11, were having a conversation and two of them were being dubbed by adults. It was hilarious. It just looked so odd. That was definitely the highlight of the day, lol.

After the field trip Mike and I went out into the Old City for a bit with my roommate Stephanie, and then we spent the rest of the afternoon studying, because we have 8 tests within the next two weeks. It's actually finals for most of our classes. Yep. So I'm sorry if I don't post for a while, it's because I'm being boring and there's nothing to tell.

  1. Good luck on your tests! Did you hear Spencer broke his nose playing basketball? Deb let me know yesterday, I was really surprised. Dahlia says "aggle flaggle klabble" to you and that means you should probably get a copy of Knuffle Bunny so you understand the reference. Good luck again, we love reading your posts. (And I knew that one on the left was awesome!)
