Today we went down to Eilat to go snorkeling. Eilat is pretty much on the Egyptian border, so it was definitely a 4 hour bus ride. But it was all right. I slept on the way there and we watched Ocean's 13 and half of 11 on the way back. I actually couldn't see the screen very well, so I just closed my eyes and listened, but I like both of those movies, so it was good.
The beach was not as warm as I was expecting, I'm not gonna lie. I mean, we got there and the wind was blowing and I'm like, Isn't it supposed to be warm this far south pretty much any time of year, let alone April. Honestly. But the sun is pretty intense down there, so it actually was pretty warm, even through the cloud cover, and after a while the wind felt really nice.
We only rented 45 snorkeling masks, so we couldn't all go in at once, and I waited to warm up on the beach before plunging into the freezing cold sea. When I finally got in, I just had to tell myself not to think about the cold, and I just ploughed right in. Once I got in and got moving around it wasn't so cold. And it was pretty cool. They had quite a reef. We actually had to go out on a dock to where we could get in, because closer to the shore the coral was all built up close to the surface. The fish were all swimming around right up close to where we were swimming, I could almost reach out and touch them. And there was this one fish, it had to have been almost 2 feet long, and it was predominantly green, but it had blue and purple and even a little yellow and orange in it. It was pretty awesome. And there were all these little tiny greens ones swimming around down by the coral. I wasn't brave enough to swim down under the water, I was pretty happy up by the surface. The lifeguard didn't like us very much, tho. He kept saying, "Jerusalem Center Group, do not swim into the sea, you must stay inside the buoys!" And as far as any of us could tell, we totally were. But it was really fun.
After that I laid out on the beach some more, and the sun came out and it really warmed up, but like I said, there was still a pretty strong breeze, so the weather was perfect. At 2:00 we went over to the boardwalk and hung out there for a while. There were just a bunch of little stands with some fun things. I got an ankle bracelet with seashells braided into it. Just a little something, kinda fun, you know.
Then we went to dinner at the kibbutz that we stayed at on our way down to Egypt. They give you so much food at this plate. Like, they load your plate to overflowing, it's nuts. But they also give you free gelato. And the food is good. And now we're back at the JC, once more. ... The end. :)
